Lip Lift

Some people have a bigger than usual space between their nose and upper lip. Lip lift may be the right method to improve the appearance in cases that the upper lip is too thin, the lips shape is too low and the nose is too elevated. Lip lift corrects the space between the nose and the upper lip.

What is Lip Lift?

Lip lift is made to reduce the distance between the nose and the upper lip. The procedure shortens the space between the bottom of the nose and the top of the lips (philtrum). The aesthetic surgery is only performed on the upper lip. No surgery is performed on the lower lip.

For the lip lift the incision is made in the area between the nose and upper lip to carve out a strip of skin under the nose. After the procedure, the sutures remain under the skin, so that the cuts are not visible. Lip-lift is a rather simple and short-term aesthetic surgery.

Some people mistaken lip lift for pumping lips, however these are two different procedures. Lip lift shortens the space between the nose and the upper lip. To pump up the lips both upper and lower lips are injected with a filler. The lip lift makes the philtrum between the upper lip and the nose look more harmonious. The surgery only changes the length of the philtrum and not the size of the lips.

How does the healing process go after the lip lift?

As with other aesthetic interventions, swelling can occur within days after the lip lift surgery caused by stitches between nose and lip. The stitches are dissolvable and therefore do not need to be removed by a doctor. In a rare case of bleeding in the stitches you should see a doctor immediately. A lip lift is performed by plastic surgeons and as in other cases it is very important for the procedure to be performed by an expert surgeon in the field in order to avoid any disturbance in the patient's oral structure and speech.
